Smart Hydroponics for Widows in Maua
Challenge
Elderly widows in Maua struggled to maintain traditional farms due to limited water, harsh weather, and the physical demands of soil‑based agriculture. This made it difficult to grow enough food and sustain their livelihoods.

Solution
Through the Hydroponic Hope Initiative (HHI), Tech Home introduced simple, low‑maintenance hydroponic systems that allow year‑round vegetable production using very little water and minimal physical effort. We supplied the hydroponic units, seedlings, training, and ongoing support to ensure long‑term success.

Impact
The widows now enjoy;
-
Improved household nutrition,
-
Reduced dependence on rain‑fed farming,
-
The ability to earn income from surplus produce.
-
The initiative restores independence,
-
Strengthens food security, and
-
Demonstrates how smart‑green technology can uplift vulnerable communities with dignity and care.

Smart Hydroponics for a Juja Childrens' Home
Challenge
The Juja Children’s Home struggled to maintain its vegetable farm due to dry weather, limited water, and harsh growing conditions. This made it difficult to provide consistent, nutritious food for the children.

Solution
Through the Hydroponic Hope Initiative (HHI), Tech Home installed a simple, water‑efficient hydroponic garden (equivalent to 1/8 acre). We provided the hydroponic unit, seedlings, organic fertiliser, training for caregivers and older children, and ongoing technical support. The system now enables year‑round vegetable production using minimal water.

Impact
The home now enjoys;
-
Steady supply of fresh, healthy vegetables,
-
Reduced food costs, and
-
Sustainable farming model that thrives even in dry conditions.
-
Hands‑on experience with modern agriculture to the children — turning the garden into a source of nourishment, learning, and pride.
